The Rural Educators Alliance at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) is pleased to present Rural Education Week 2018: Recognizing and Reckoning with Ruralness.The purpose of this week-long series of events is to explore some of the distinct questions and issues facing rural regions worldwide and bring them to the forefront of HGSE conversation with the hope of creating a lasting dialogue.

 

Some of the topics we will dive into include: international rural education, teacher recruitment and retention, elementary rural education, rural charter schools, rural college access, the role of the arts in rural communities, rural politics and community identity, Native American rural communities, health and sex education in rural areas, and access to technology in rural schools. These discussions will take the form of panels, lectures, exhibitions, showcases of student voice, and workshops.
